There are quite a few mouse deterrent choices available on the market. There are ones that you plug in or ones that are all natural. It is up to you to pick which one you would like to use.
There is an electronic mouse deterrent that needs to be plugged into your wall outlet. It runs on 120 volts so any outlet will do. These work a couple of different ways. One way is to emit a ultrasonic high frequency that annoys the mouse so much that they leave. It emits a frequency between 30 to 60 khz and never repeats the same one. The mouse can't get used to a frequency and just get irritated. Another way uses the electrical wiring in the walls. This way the electromagnetic field of the electrical wiring is vibrated by the device. These vibrations vary and change continuously so the mouse can't get used to them, but get irritated and leave. Usually one device of either type can cover one floor of a home.
There are also mouse deterrent choices that are natural. Some natural oils that are popular for getting rid of mice are peppermint, spearmint, and mint. Use a cotton ball to soak up the oil and toss them into places where you have seen mice or mice droppings. The scent drives them away. Soaked cotton balls should be replaced each month to keep mice away from coming back. There are also prepackaged bags that allow air flow that have a mixture of spearmint and peppermint oil. All you have to do is throw them in the chosen areas like the cotton balls. Again, replace once a month.
